Fundraising can be a unique opportunity for new volunteers to engage their communities around Mexican social justice issues and build a common investment in the work they are about to do with CASA. It is also a way for alumni to give back to the communities that they have shared their lives with and learned so much from. A long list of fundraising options exists.
Some people host events such as:
A documentary screening of a Mexican film
A raffle of Mexican art
A benefit concert
An exhibit of revolutionary art from Mexico
A study group based on readings from Teaching Rebellion: Stories from the Grassroots Mobilization in Oaxaca
A dinner event
Some people sell merchandise such as t-shirts, postcards, DVDs, prints, or books. And many people write letters to friends and families requesting a contribution in support of their work with CASA. A sample fundraising letter is attached.
CASA coordinators are happy to discuss fundraising ideas with new volunteers and alumni. Feel free to contact us at any time!
