The first thing you may notice is we're no longer the Chiapas Peace House Project, but CASA. Our mission hasn't changed; we just needed a broader name as we begin work in Oaxaca. Read the full announcement here. 

It's been an eventful time in Mexico. While we await the arrival of volunteers and our two coordinators, we rely on our alumnus Jen Lawhorne in Mexico City for two of this month's articles: a news piece with video of aggressive police actions in Oaxaca City, as well as an analysis on the AMLO Protests in Mexico.

John Ross, a well known social analyst of Mexico, recently published an article in counterpunch entitled "A Report from the Red Alert - Zapatistas at a Critical Crossroads" which initiated a dialogue among those following the Zapatista's Otra Campaña. We repost a response by Mary Ann Tenuto-Sanchez of the Chiapas Support Committee, and also refer readers to another reply by Alejandro Reyes of Radio Zapatista. 

We refer readers interested in developments with the Otra Campaña, the election protests in Mexico City, and the teacher takeover of Oaxaca City to standard sources such as Narco News, counterpunch, indybay, Indymedia Oaxaca, and to la Jornada (Spanish).  We also note this article on Indybay sent to us by Jen, Oaxaca media under attack.
